March of Dimes and Indianapolis Colts Kick Off Coin Drive Collecting Change Prior to 11/18 game Helps Raise Funds to Improve Health of America’s Babies Former Colts Ray Donaldson, John Hand and Randy Dixon to sign autographs at PanAm Plaza
(Indianapolis, IN, November 15, 2007) –March of Dimes volunteers, former Colts players and the Indianapolis Colts are kicking off the Change for America’s Babies campaign, a coin drive to help the organization raise funds in the fight to improve the health of babies, prior to the Indianapolis Colts game on November 18th.
Colts fans, whether they attend the game or not, can take their change to PanAm plaza the morning of the game. There will be former Colts Players: John Hand, Randy Dixon, Ray Donaldson and more there to sign autographs form 10:30am – 12:30pm. If you are going to the game simply drop your change in a bucket held by a March of Dimes volunteer stationed around the RCA Dome and at tailgate areas in the city as you go into the dome for the game.
“With an estimated $10.5 billion of loose change sitting idle in households nationwide, Change for America’s Babies gives everyone a chance to make a difference and help every baby be born healthy,” says Tim Arndt, of the March of Dimes Indiana chapter. “Whether the donation is big or small – it all adds up. It was dimes collected by volunteers in the 1930’s and the 1940’s that funded the cure for polio. Millions of small donations have made possible many of the March of Dimes funded research advances that help premature, sick and tiny newborns survive today. We can make that same monumental impact for all babies with change provided by everyone in the March of Dimes today.”
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched a campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth.
