The purpose of the program is to reduce the incidence of low birth weight, birth defects, and infant deaths by encouraging prenatal care and education. Each Stork's Nest is unique and must adapt to the needs of their personal community.
The March of Dimes Iowa Chapter supports Stork's Nest through many community grants and providing educational materials for both coordinators and Nest participants.
The Stork's Nest is continually accepting donations for new or gently used baby items as incentives for participants. Examples of items include diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, car seats, cribs, monitors, baby soap and powder, baby clothes, etc.
