Iowa Advocacy Issues and Priorities
2008 Iowa State Chapter Legislative Priorities

State funding support of smoking prevention and cessation programs affecting women of childbearing age and children.

Legislation to create local ordinances which would prevent smoking in public places.

Expand Medicaid to include Presumptive Eligibility for children.
 
Maintain current maternal and infant health services through Medicaid, hawk-i and Iowa Cares.

Maintain state funding to the Congenital and Inherited Disorders Registry. 

Maintain state funding to the PKU Clinic.

Advocacy Network
The Advocacy Network is made up of volunteers and staff who promote the March of Dimes mission agenda by contacting the governor and state legislators in response to Chapter action alerts. This year's issues and priorities include those described above.

Public Policy Research
One of the responsibilities of the March of Dimes Office of Government Affairs is to direct public policy studies that support national and Chapter advocacy priorities.
