Iowa Chapter Celebrates a Legislative Win in 2013
Senate File 202 included legislation that directs the Department of Public Health to expand efforts on smoking cessation to children age 12 and older. Smoking is one of the biggest risks for premature birth and is tied to infant mortality. March of Dimes worked hard to ensure the bill passed the House and Senate. The bill was signed into law by Governor Branstand.
March of Dimes Iowa staff and volunteers will continue advocacy efforts in order to ensure maternal and infant health issues are addressed by our state's leaders. For more information on how you can help, contact Michelle Gogarty, Director of Program Services at 515-657-6294 or email@example.com.
