| Six Awarded in 2005
Greater Kansas, 2005--The March of Dimes Greater Kansas Chapter is pleased to advance maternal and infant health in Kansas/Western Missouri by supporting several initiatives that address the unique needs of Kansas and Missouri.
In addition to awarding $700,000 over the past three years for biomedical research in the Greater Kansas Chapter, the March of Dimes also gives financial support to initiate community-based projects that hold promise to help reduce birth defects and infant mortality by addressing particular local needs.
Here in Kansas/Western Missouri, a review of state and local health statistics and service gaps determined that mothers and babies would benefit from the many different programs the grants are funding. "We are pleased that our successful fundraising efforts, such as WalkAmerica and Bikers for Babies®, make it possible for us to support new, locally focused efforts to help babies be born healthy," said March of Dimes Chapter Chair, Ann Ropp.
