| During 2007, the Greater Kansas Chapter achieved unparalleled success, raising more than $2.8 million in its mission to save babies. The 2007 WalkAmerica campaign raised $1.7 million -- a 34 percent increase over the 2006 campaign. March of Dimes social events -- Wine Fest, Signature Chefs Auctions and Blue Jean Ball -- raised a combined $461,412 for an impressive statewide growth of 91 percent. Kansas City also boasted the largest, most profitable March of Dimes Bikers for Babies charity ride in the nation, which saw a 49 percent increase for a record $717,000 raised in 2007.
The March of Dimes looks forward to reaching even greater heights in 2008. The first step is a national re-branding, which includes a fresh, new logo and the renaming of its signature event from WalkAmerica to March for Babies.
Every baby benefits from the March of Dimes. From polio to prematurity, the March of Dimes continues its fight to achieve a healthy start for all babies.
With more than half a million babies being born premature each year in the United States, there is an enormous task ahead of us. With the help of our volunteers, sponsors, donors, ambassador families and media partners, we are making strides. Thank you for helping make 2007 a great year and we look forward to your continued support as we embark on a new journey in 2008. |
