| The March of Dimes Greater Kansas Chapter presented the 2009 Prematurity Conference on October 6, 2009. The conference, sponsored by MedImmune, included both national and local experts on prematurity issues and featured a presentation by AAP President, Dr. Dave Tayloe, Jr.
Medical professionals, insurers, government officials, business leaders, educators and families were brought together to discuss factors contributing to Kansas' premature birth rate and develop an action plan to prevent preterm birth. In addition to the presentations, the event provided the opportunity for an open forum to discuss ideas, challenges and model programs designed to reduce premature birth rates.
The conference also served as a launch pad for the Kansas Prematurity Coalition. This newly-formed coalition will bring together organizations statewide and use collective approaches to significantly impact prematurity in Kansas and the greater Kansas City Area.
