| Timothy E. Kelly, president of the Consumer Solutions division of Sprint, a Fortune 100 telecommunications company currently headquartered in Overland Park, Kan., has been elected to the National Board of Trustees of the March of Dimes, it was announced today.
March of Dimes trustees, who serve as volunteers, represent the public in governing the organization and advancing its mission to save babies from birth defects, infant mortality, and premature birth.
Mr. Kelly has served as a volunteer leader of the March of Dimes for two years. Previously, he served as chairman of the Kansas City WalkAmerica.
Mr. Kelly joined Sprint in 1994 as assistant vice president of Corporate Brand Media and Marketing Initiatives. He left in 1999 to work as executive vice president of marketing and later as president of tickets.com, returning to Sprint in 2001. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree in marketing from the University of Florida in 1982.
Kelly and his wife, Melissa, have five children. They reside in Leawood, Kan.
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched an eight-year campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth.
