| Kansas City, MO – Step up to the plates and goblets for the March of Dimes 17th annual Wine Fest – a grape night for a great cause! The 17th annual Wine Fest is a benefit for the March of Dimes featuring a sampling of more than 200 varieties of domestic and imported wines, along with a selection of hors d’oeuvres from Kansas City’s finest restaurants, a “Connoisseur Table,” live music from the Michael Beers Band (http://www.michaelbeers.com/) and a silent auction. This event is educational in nature and promotes wine only in the context of moderate consumption, particularly in combination with and as an enhancement to food.
A new feature to this year’s Wine Fest is the exclusive Premier Wine Room. Hosted by Stephen Molloy, co-owner of the Classic Cup and co-host of “Live Well/Serve Well” weekly radio program and Lisa Burgess, founder of Live Well/Serve Well consulting company and co-host of the radio program, guests can enjoy tasting premier wines, wine presentations, vertical tasting, chocolate tasting and gourmet foods by The American Restaurant, Bluestem, Capital Grille and 1924 Main. The Premier Wine Room is for the more serious wine enthusiasts and will be located in Pavilion One at the Fairmont. Some of the participating restaurants include Arcadian Catering, Dragon Fly, the Fairmont Hotel, Hannah Bistro, LaBodega, M&S Grille, McCormick & Schmick’s, Pierponts, Re:Verse and Rudy’s Tenampa Taqueria. Premiere Wine Room restaurants include The American Restaurant, Bluestem, Capital Grille and 1924 Main. Some of the wine vendors participating in Wine Fest are A. Bommarito Wines, Corkscrew Wine Company, Major Brands and Premier Cru Wine Company.
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched an eight-year campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth.
