04-May-08
Overland Park, Kan. –  More than 6,500 participated in the first-ever March for Babies and 38th annual March of Dimes walking event Sunday at the Kansas City Power & Light District. Highlights included one- and three-mile routes through downtown, live entertainment and a Baby Boulevard. The 2008 March for Babies campaign in Kansas City is expected to raise more than $1 million.

March for Babies, formerly known as WalkAmerica, is the March of Dimes premier fundraising event that benefits all babies—those born healthy as well as those who need help to survive and thrive. Funds raised by March for Babies in Kansas City support local research grants focused on issues related to premature birth and community programs such as NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Family Support at Saint Luke’s Hospital.

The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health.  With chapters nationwide and its premier event, March for Babies, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies. For the latest resources and information, visit marchofdimes.com or nascersano.org.
