Folic Acid Campaign in Kansas
Since 1998, the Greater Kansas Chapter has focused intense efforts on educating women and health professionals about the importance of taking folic acid to prevent birth defects of the brain and spinal cord (also called neural tube defects). If all women of childbearing age took 400 micrograms of folic acid daily before and during early pregnancy, the incidence of neural tube birth defects could be reduced by up to 70 percent. |

What Is Folic Acid and Why Does Your Baby Need It?
