March of Dimes at work in Greater Kentucky Chapter!

Where the Money Goes

To see your dollars at work, the Greater Kentucky Chapter would like to show you the fruits of your labor!  Listed below are the resources that are available to our community through the March of Dimes, made possible by people like you!

On a National Level:

¨       Research into the causes and prevention for premature birth.  A rising problem which continues to take the lives of children every day.

¨       Pregnancy and Newborn Health Education Center; a free service giving prenatal wellness information, counseling and newborn care advice to anyone in your town.

¨       Share site- where families touched by prematurity can connect, share their stories and get information about topics related to prematurity. http://www.shareyourstory.org/.

¨       Support of local programs that help women get proper prenatal care.

¨       Advocacy- Work to fight the number one killer of newborns—prematurity.

Saving Babies in the Greater Kentucky Chapter:

March of Dimes NICU Family Support Project: at Norton Suburban Hospital: helping parents through the difficulties of having their new baby admitted for intensive care.

March of Dimes Research Grants: fund research at the University of Kentucky to study causes and prevention of premature birth.

Healthy Babies, Healthy Business: free extension of wellness programs of local businesses.  Geared toward first time and working parents, this provides information about pregnancy and newborn health.

Nursing Module Library:  local organizations wanting to hold continuing educational programs for nurses can borrow modules from this library.

Grand Rounds Funds:  The March of Dimes is partnered with Johnson & Johnson Pediatric Institute to provide funds for organizations wishing to host educational programs.

March of Dimes Community Grants:  each year, an average of $100,000 is granted to 4 to 6 organizations throughout the Greater Kentucky Chapter to fund programs benefiting pregnant women and babies. 

Advocacy: on a local level to support causes that benefit mothers and babies.
