Hurricane Season: Helpful Resources

The needs of pregnant women and families with infants are unique during a disaster.
You should first follow directions give by the state, but there are some special things you should consider.

Local Resources:
• Call 1.800.251.BABY (2229) for 24 hour access to a friendly voice that can comfort and direct women to services they need in their community.
• An emergency situation can cause a great deal of stress for a family. If you are concerned about your relationship and your safety, please call the Louisiana Domestic Violence Hotline at 1.888.411.1333.
• Call LaMOMS at 1.888.342.6207 for information about Medicaid coverage for pregnant women.
• Call the La Leche Breastfeeding Helpline at 1.800.525.3243 for breastfeeding support or if you have any questions about feeding your baby.
