March of Dimes Gourmet Gala
Washington, D.C.

The March of Dimes Gourmet Gala is an annual fundraising dinner with a unique Capitol Hill flavor.  The theme of this year's gala is "Have the Heart, Brains & Courage to Help Save Babies." Special guests include Dr. Mehmet Oz (pictured, below), health expert for The Oprah Winfrey Show and vice chair and professor of surgery at Columbia University.

Celebrity chefs, including Members of Congress and other Washington notables, participate in a competitive cook-off prior to the seated gourmet dinner.  Each celebrity chef serves a sample of a regional appetizer prepared from his or her own recipe.  The program will include a live auction of airfare and VIP tickets to Dr. Oz's new fall TV program.  The gourmet dinner and prizes for Best Chefs complete the evening.

Gourmet Gala 2009 co-chairs are Mrs. Mike (Diane) Enzi and Mrs. Dennis (Stephene) Moore.  The honorary chair is the Honorable Elaine L. Chao (pictured, above).  The finance co-chairs are the Honorable Steve Bartlett, president and CEO of The Financial Services Roundtable, and Kathy Didawick, executive director of political affairs at Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
