More Babies Receive Newborn Screening Tests

Since the March of Dimes expanded the nationwide campaign to standardize newborn screening in every state in 2005, 2.5 million more babies have been screened for life-threatening disorders. Thousands of additional affected babies have been detected and treated.
All jurisdictions in the Maryland-National Capital Area Chapter, including the commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia, requires screening for 29 core, treatable conditions. For more information on newborn screening tests, please click here.
