TITLE: Regional Director of Volunteer Development
REPORTS TO: Regional Vice President (RVP), West Region, (and dotted line to Sr. VP, Volunteer Development)
LOCATION: Dallas, TX
REASON FOR OPENING: New Position
POSITION PURPOSE:
To work in concert with Regional Management and the Volunteer Leadership Development Department to enhance chapter and regional volunteer development; including recruitment, training and development of resources, tools and tracking systems. The postion will be critical in the organizations quest to be the premiere organization for volunteerism. The position will be the driver for the organization to reach "greatness" to improve all volunteer development systems in mission awareness, revenue development, organizational effectiveness and mission implementation. This position will be located in Dallas, TX or can be a regional telecommuting position.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tools and resources:
- In conjuction with regional management and chapters compile a comprehensive list of materials and resources for chapters.
- Assist in the development of tools and resources that will enhance chapter and region volunteer development and volunteer leadership.
Volunteer Development Institute:
- Participate as a staff trainer in the Institutes implementation of 4 training modules.
- In concert with Regional management insure all Chapter Boards/Division Boards have received VDI training.
- Insure all chapters have a structured volunteer orientation plan (minimum 2 orientations conducted annually).
- Coordinate regional/national staff and volunteer facilitators for chapter/regional trainings with the Volunteer Development Department.
Board Development:
- Insure 4 modules are implemented in all chapters by developing a priority matrix solicting Area Director (AD) input.
- Develop consistent training and benchmarks for all chapter boards - blue ribbon and powerboard.
Volunteer Leadership Conference (VLC):
- Represent the Regions and chapters in the development of the content of the VLC.
- Provide materials to chapters to implement statewide VLCs.
Regional Volunteers:
- Work with Regional staff to support and provide meaningful assignments and experiences for regional volunteers.
- Develop agendas with staff and volunteers for meetings (conference calls).
- Track regional volunteer participation.
Relationship Management:
- Work as the laison with Volunteer Development Department counterparts in Diversity, community outreach and youth.
- Establish relationships with affiliated clubs and organizations leaders to develop an appropriate placement system for volunteers on chapter committees.
- Track number of volunteers recruited to chapter postions from clubs and organizations.
Youth Development:
- In conjunction with regional management and the volunteer development department develop criteria for chapter eligibility to participate in youth related projects (other than youth on board or public affairs youth on board).
- Participate in the development of the national youth conference.
- Act as facilitator and mentor for national youth council members.
- Track number of youth volunteers participating in chapter activities.
- Tracking: Insure all chapter data is current and accurately reflects volunteer development tracking in Volunteer Donor and Event Management System (and Constituent Relationship Management).
- Insure that volunteer profiles are fully developed and entered into the system.
- Provide volunteer information to RVPs and ADs on diversity, volunteers recruited from clubs and organizations, youth outreach, companies and industries.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Four year college degree or equivalent experience with 5 to 7 years experience
- Completion of Volunteer Development and Building Foundations Courses required
- Management level experience; strong leadership skills
- Volunteer management experience
- Project management experience
- Strong background and proven track record in working with volunteers and volunteer leadership
- Must be able to effectively work across functional areas
- Exceptional presentation skills and ability to effectively communicate both verbally & written
- Ability to multi-task and think strategically
