TITLE: State Director of Program Services
REPORTS TO: State Director
LOCATION: Columbus, OH
REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement
POSITION PURPOSE:
Direct the chapter’s implementation of Program Plan, which includes activities and projects related to the Foundation’s mission, community services, and program volunteer support. Participate as an active member of the chapter management team. This position ensures that the March of Dimes is an active participant in improving the health of babies in the chapter’s communities.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and insure effective program planning, implementation and evaluation:
- Be familiar with and track the chapter’s progress in meeting the Standards for Success, insuring that the chapter maintains a score of at least 3.0
- Insure that the chapter has a current and approved program plan in the Electronic Program Information Center (EPIC)
- Support accomplishment of chapter’s program plan objectives
- In collaboration with the Program Services Committee, review and update the Program Plan as needed, and review progress at least annually
- Manage the chapter’s community grants program, following guidelines from the national office
- Utilize technical assistance from the regional and national office as appropriate
- Utilize financial resources from the national office to support accomplishment of program objectives (Grand Rounds, Pilot Projects, etc.)
- Maintain documentation (and evaluation in some cases) of program activities to enable timely reporting to the regional and/or national office, provide accountability for community grants, and complete the Year-End Report in EPIC
- Provide staff and volunteer mission related education and support
- Maintain an active Public Affairs committe and support legislation as indicated by the Office of Government Affairs and local advocacy opportunities; maintain an active Chain Reaction Council and integrate youth volunteers into mission, fundraising, and public affairs activities.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- 2 – 4 years experience in one or more of the following areas: maternal/child health; reproductive health; working with disadvantaged populations; program planning, development and implementation; volunteer development; recruiting and training; community development; or grants administration
- Master’s degree in Public health, Nursing, Epidemiology, Genetics, Health Advocacy, Community Health, Public Administration, or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience with 6 years experience in one or more of the areas listed above.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, problem solving, planning, implementation, organization, and computer skills (Microsoft Office).
