The March of Dimes Mission
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives.

2011 Maryland-National Capital Area Chapter Community Grants
The March of Dimes provides grants to community groups to assist in the development of local services.  The Maryland-National Capital Area Chapter is proud to announce its support of several programs in 2011, providing grants totaling $156,237.



The Mama & Baby Bus
The March of Dimes/Mary’s Center Mama & Baby Bus (MBB) provides free prenatal and dental services to pregnant women in wards 1, 2, 4 and 5.  The bus schedule is available every month in English and Spanish on this site.





NICU Family Support
One in 10 newborns is admitted to a NICU because they are born too soon, too small or with a birth defect. March of Dimes NICU Family Support aims to make the NICU experience smoother and less traumatic for families.





Stork's Nest
Stork’s Nest is a cooperative project of the March of Dimes and the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. that provides prenatal education and incentives for low-income pregnant women.





Commenzando Bien
Comenzando bien is the March of Dimes prenatal education program for Hispanic women. It was developed in partnership with the National Alliance for Hispanic Health and is culturally and linguistically appropriate for Hispanic women.





Project Alpha
This collaborative project of the March of Dimes and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. provides young males with education, motivation and skill-building on issues of responsibility, relationships, teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
