The March of Dimes and AFCEA NOVA are now accepting nominations for the Heroines in Technology® awards program. The 12th annual awards program honors the significant contributions of women in the technology industry who exemplify leadership in volunteer community service.
Nominations are open to all segments of the technology community including government, nonprofit and commercial organizations in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia.
Finalists and winners will be selected in the following categories:
• Rising Heroine
• Individual Heroine
• Corporate Heroine
• AFCEA International Government Heroine
• Lifetime Achievement Heroine
In addition, woman-owned or woman-run companies will be recognized for their extraordinary dedication to local service or philanthropy.
“The Heroines in Technology awards program is recognized as one of the longest running and most prestigious honors recognizing women in our community,” said Sabret Flocos, Heroines in Technology 2012 chair and former award recipient. “Through the program, we are able to promote the impact of giving expertise, experience and leadership gained over our careers in support of philanthropic and community initiatives.”
To nominate or learn more about past winners, visit www.afceanova.org/hit/2012. The submission deadline is July 13, 2012. The black-tie awards gala will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012, at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner.
Proceeds from the event will support local March of Dimes programs of research, community services, education and advocacy. Since 2001, the event has raised over $1.2 million to support the March of Dimes mission of saving babies.
Event sponsors include AFCEA International, DC Magazine, Sapient and Transportation Systems, Inc. For more information about the event or on the nomination process, please contact Marissa Nihill at (571) 257-2305.
