ARLINGTON, Va. (July 13, 2012) — The deadline for Heroines in Technology® nominations has been extended to August 1, 2012. Finalists and winners will be recognized at the 12th Annual Heroines in Technology event. The black-tie gala will honor the significant contributions of women in the technology industry who exemplify leadership in volunteer community service.
Nominations in all segments of the technology community including government, nonprofit and commercial organizations in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia will be accepted.
Finalists and winners will be selected in the following categories:
• Rising Heroine
• Individual Heroine
• Corporate Heroine
• AFCEA International Government Heroine
• Lifetime Achievement Heroine
Additionally, woman-owned or woman-run companies will be recognized for their extraordinary dedication to local service or philanthropy.

Heroines in Technology will be hosted by the March of Dimes and AFCEA NOVA on November 9, 2012, at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. Proceeds from the event will support local March of Dimes programs of research, community services, education and advocacy. Since 2001, the event has raised over $1.4 million to support the March of Dimes mission of saving babies.
