Prematurity Summit 2007
Boston

Addressing how healthy lifestyles may reduce the risk and consequences of prematurity in Massachusetts

Thursday, November 15, 2007: Boston

The Massachusetts Prematurity Summit 2007 aims to increase awareness among women, families and health providers about how healthy lifestyles may reduce the risk and consequences of prematurity in Massachusetts.

Objectives

1. Highlight the serious and increasing incidence of prematurity in Massachusetts
2. Promote prevention and risk-reduction strategies
3. Understand the impact of racial and cultural disparities on prematurity.
4. Identify resources available to women, families and health providers

The Summit includes seminars--given by nationally recognized leaders in the field--on topics that cover how prematurity is affected by age, smoking, oral health, nutrition, domestic violence and other factors as well as the role of institutions in promoting healthy lifestyles. (Please see event schedule below.)

We expect the Prematurity Summit—now in its fourth year--will attract over 400 participants including maternal and child health physicians, nurses, midwives, dentists, hygienists, case managers, nutritionists, social workers, childbirth educators, community health workers, educators and other health professionals.
