Nominations Guide and Form

Objective
To honor women who work in or support the technology industry for their dedication to community service.

Key Dates
Nominations close: Friday, July 15, 2011
Finalists selected: August 2011
Interviews conducted: August/September 2011
Presentation night: Friday, October 21, 2011 (winners will be announced)


Nominations Criteria:

• Nominees must be women who work in or support the technology field in Washington, D.C., Maryland or Northern Virginia.
• Each nominee must exemplify superb volunteer service in the community. The nominee must demonstrate achievement in spreading the mission and enhancing the success of the volunteer organizations with which she is involved through her leadership and innovative ideas.
• The nominee’s volunteer work must show personal passion and commitment above and beyond what is required by her professional role and responsibilities.


Process:

• Nominations must be received by July 15, 2011. The selection committee will meet after that date to determine the finalists.
• All nominees will be contacted and told if they have been selected as a finalist or not.
• If selected as a finalist, the nominee must be available for a taped interview (three available dates in late August/early September). A video including all finalists will be shown at the event.
• If selected as a finalist, the nominee must be available to attend the Awards Gala on Friday, October 21, 2011.
• Nominees must be amenable to media coverage.


Heroines in Technology will be selected based upon their leadership, impact, innovation and inspiration with the organizations in which they are involved.

Nominations are due by Friday, July 15, 2011. All items marked with an * must be completed.

Nomination Category* (Select all that apply):

Individual Heroine: During her career, nominee has exemplified volunteerism in the community beyond participation within her company’s community outreach.

Corporate Heroine: Nominee must be an Owner, CEO or President who leverages her position and company to actively encourage and support employees to volunteer in the community.

AFCEA International Government Heroine: Nominee must be employed by the Federal, State or Local Government. She must exhibit extraordinary volunteerism and a passion for helping others in endeavors over and above the mandates of her government role. Do not need to be an AFCEA member to be considered in this category.

Awards in each category may include one of the following: Rising, Individual, or Executive, as determined by the Selection Committee.
