2008 March of Dimes Golden Mile Detroit Athletic Club
The Golden Mile is the official start of March for Babies - formally known as WalkAmerica, in Michigan and it is where corporate leaders from the Metro Detroit area join in a symbolic half-mile walk. The United Auto Workers, DaimlerChrysler, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors are teaming up once again with the March of Dimes for March for Babies. Along with our State March for Babies Chairs we will have the March of Dimes National Ambassador, Catherine Aboulhouda and her family, who will share their story. The Golden Mile Executive Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in the Main Dining Room of the Detroit Athletic Club beginning with a continental breakfast at 8:45 a.m. Paul W. Smith, News/Talk 760 WJR will emcee. The Detroit Athletic Club’s Michigan High School Athlete of the Year will be announced during the program and these young adults will be celebrated at the Dodge National Athletic Awards to be held this spring. The March for Babies 2008 honorary state chairs are General Holiefield – UAW Chrysler, Bob King – UAW Ford, Cal Rapson – UAW General Motors, John Franciosi – Chrysler, Joe Hinrichs – Ford Motor Company, and Diana Tremblay – General Motors. “The support of the March of Dimes is a growing effort and we are pleased to be working together with the UAW, DaimlerChrysler, Ford Motor Company and General Motors. We are expanding the campaign nationally and encouraging all our facilities to participate. Our goal is to contribute to every baby having a healthy start in life," said Tom Riopelle, March of Dimes Michigan State Director.
