Folic Acid Campaign

Since 1998 the March of Dimes has been leading a national education campaign about folic acid and its role in preventing birth defects. The campaign has played a significant role in the incidence of neural tube defects decreasing by 19% over the past five years. The March of Dimes Minnesota Chapter has provided education to women and health professionals about the importance of folic acid in reducing certain birth defects, and partnering with other agencies to provide education, training and vitamin distribution.

Learn more about the benefits of folic acid and why it its important for all women of childbearing age to take a daily multi-vitamin with 400 micrograms of folic acid, in addition to eating a balanced diet.
