Summary of Programs/Modules

PHOTOGRAPHY
To weave photography throughout the NICU experience to provide lasting keepsakes for families.
Perform photo sessions with babies and families to enhance family centered care and help families document/observe progress
Photos are used at scrapbooking sessions
Handouts on how to take better photos

RURAL/OUTLYING FAMILIES
To provide emotional and informational support to families from rural or outlying areas.
Updated list of local hotels with discounts
Provide disposable cameras
Directions available to families with local restaurants/groceries
Local physician resource list distributed to rural and outlying families at discharge

Summary of NFS Program Highlights:

• Established parent / professional NICU Action Committee including participation from a BHS Pediatrician, NICU RN’s and five graduate NICU families.

• Trained 37 NICU nurses in developmental care principles through Children’s Medical Ventures Preemie for a Day.

• Initiated Photography and Rural/Outlying Families Modules

• BHS’s March for Babies team consist of staff participation from the following departments: NICU nurses, Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby Unit, Women Services and the support of several other departments.
