2007 Advocacy Priorities for the Mississippi Chapter:

 Access to Care— Chapter will lead effort to enact presumptive eligibility for children under Medicaid and the state’s children’s health insurance program.

 Smoking Cessation— Chapter will work to have the state tobacco tax increased with increased revenues going, in part, toward providing smoking cessation coverage for pregnant women

 

2007 Advocacy Wins:

The Mississippi Chapter worked collaboratively to fully fund the state’s tobacco prevention, education and cessation program with an appropriation of $20 million.

 

2006 Advocacy Wins:

 The Mississippi Chapter worked to successfully enact legislation to create a Child Death Review (replacing the Infant Mortality Panel) and expanding data collection on infant and child mortality and morbidity.
