Project Descriptions:
The Grace Project—Doula Foundation of Mid-America—A comprehensive, early intervention prenatal education program for at-risk families living in poverty.

Folic Acid: Right From the Start—Bollinger County Health Center—To increase community knowledge and education about folic acid and SIDS by providing various educational opportunities specifically for women of childbearing age.

Bright Beginnings—Livingston County Health Center—Smoking cessation program utilizing “The 5A’s” as well as a home visit program for prenatal and post-partum women and families.

Healthy Mom’s – Healthy Baby’s—Linn County Health Department—Prenatal education classes for pregnant women in Linn County. Folic Acid, alcohol and tobacco education for 9th and 10th grade female students in five public school districts.

Urban Outreach—SIDS Resources—Addresses the disparity in infant deaths experienced by African-American parents from SIDS and other infant death. This is a continuation of last year’s program funded by the March of Dimes, with modifications made to the number and location of target audiences. We target low-income, primarily African-American parents with educational programs designed to reduce risks, specifically safe sleep and smoking cessation.

Access to Accurate STI Prevention Education—Teen Pregnancy and Prevention Partnership—Currently Missouri schools are not required to provide students with medically accurate information on the prevention, identification and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. TPPP will offer regional trainings to community stakeholders including parents, school nurses, sex education teachers, and policy makers in multiple school districts to increase students’ access to medically accurate information and increase professionals’ comfort level with and knowledge of the topic.

Centering Pregnancy—St. Louis University—The project proposes to provide information, education, and support for implementing the CenteringPregnancy® model of prenatal care throughout the state of Missouri.
