Lobby Day Advocacy Issues
2008 Advocacy Issues:
 * Smoking Cessation Programs—In Missouri 32 infants died in 2003 due to maternal smoking in pregnancy.  Keep $11.6 Million in the budget to help Missourians quit smoking, especially programs targeting pregnant women.
*  Newborn Screening—Missouri now tests for 28 of the recommended 29 newborn screening tests.
* Access to Health Care for Women of Childbearing Age, Infants, and Children—In Missouri 127,000 children are uninsured. Monitor MO HealthNet and Insure Missouri to include pregnant women and smoking cessation.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE March 4:
* Please look up, print, and bring the list of your legislators accessible on
      http://www.senate.mo.gov/llookup/leg_lookup.aspx
* Contact your representative and senator; set up appointments.
* Prepare for a day of walking – wear comfortable shoes and plan to carry all of your belongings.
