A Message from our Franklin County Chair:

Congratulations on 75 years March of Dimes! As a physician focusing on the health of women I know the value of March of Dimes research. As a mother of two young children, I am grateful for the significant benefits all babies receive, such as newborn screening, thanks to the work of this organization.

Over the years March of Dimes has been responsible for many health milestones. March of Dimes supported the research that identified the double helix structure of DNA and funded the development of the first screening test for PKU (phenylketonuria), which allowed prevention of intellectual disabilities caused by PKU through diet. More recently, the use of pulmonary surfactant therapy has reduced infant deaths due to Respiratory Distress Syndrome by over two-thirds.

I am honored to serve as Chair of the Franklin County March for Babies. Please get a team together and plan to walk with me on April 20 as we celebrate the 75th birthday of March of Dimes!
