Women's Health Symposium

Women's Health Symposium is a two day educational forum for healthcare professionals and community leaders in the fields of obstetrics, labor & delivery, neonatology and pediatrics that provides attendees with risk-reduction education, clinical skills and the latest research to decrease preterm birth and adverse neonatal and pediatric outcomes. Participants can chose to attend both days or only one of the days. CME/CEU credits are for entire days and not available for partial credit.
The program begins with a half-day training on Thursday, November 18, 2010 with Basic Skills for Assessment of Tobacco Use/Exposure and Brief Interventions for Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women. After this workshop, participants will be able to identify women at risk for smoking during and after pregnancy and provide interventions to individual smokers using ACOG's "5 A's" method. Participation for this program is limited to the first 36 individuals to maintain the 12:1 student/teacher ratio. Break refreshments are included.
The symposium continues all-day on Friday, November 19, 2010 with keynote speakers, Michael Foley, MD, PC and Thomas Garite, MD. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based interventions, treatment modalities and quality improvements. There is no limit to the number of attendees for this day. Lunch and break refreshments are included.
Approval for continuing educationl units for doctors (CME), nurses (CEU), and Social Workers (SW) is pending. It is anticipated that approval will be for 8.0 CME/CEU. If you are interested in attending and need a specific contact hour, please contact Michelle Gorelow, MAEd at 702.732.9255 ext 226. The committee will do their best to obtain the necessary approval for your discipline, however cannot guarantee that they will apply or be approved for your specific needs. It will depend on many factors including when the request is made and the cost of the application.

The registration fee after Sunday, October 31 will be an additional $25. Deadline for late registration is Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Registration at the door is available. The registration fee will be an addditional $50 fee from the original registration fee. Sorry, no discounts for students or retired healthcare professionals.

Cancellations must be made in writing (e-mail is acceptable) and received no later than Monday, November 8, 2010. All refunds are subject to a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be given after that date. Those who do need to cancel after Monday, November 8, 2010 are permitted to send a substitute.
