| LAS VEGAS – Some of the most wanted leaders and citizens of North Las Vegas will be “arrested” for a common cause - saving babies - at the March of Dimes North Las Vegas Jail & Bail.
Charged with smiling too much on a Monday morning, reckless window shopping, and other fun charges, they are guilty of aiding and abetting the March of Dimes in the fight against prematurity. Their “sentence” will be serving time raising “bail” in the form of donations for March of Dimes.
The event will be Wednesday, March 26 at The Timbers Bar & Grill, 2696 W. Ann Rd. Jailbirds will be turning themselves between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., will have their mug shot taken and enjoy jailhouse grub of pastries and appetizers.
Prematurity is growing at an alarming rate. Premature birth is the number one cause of newborn deaths.
During an average week in Nevada, 640 babies are born. Ninety-four are born too soon. Fifty-four are born with low birth weight and have to fight for their lives. Four babies lose that fight before their first birthday.
The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature births and infant mortality through programs of research, community service, education and advocacy.
