Courtney Children's Foundation

The Courtney Children's Foundation will . . .

*     Assist you to obtain the health care you need during pregnancy.

*     Provide you with a "Resource Mother" who will visit you on a regular basis.

*     Encourage completion or pursuit of educational goals.

*     Be there to lend a hand when times get tough.

*     Provide mother-to-mother support before, during and after the birth of your baby.

*     Advise you on nutritional and health related issues.

*     Help develop your parenting skills.

Smart $hop

The Smart $hop program objective is to provide hands-on life skill training.  The organization targets pregnant first time food stamp recipieents living in the north and west Las Vegas neighborhoods, where low birth weight rates are among the highest.  Smart $hop focuses on establishing healthy life goals and developing independence.  This approach empowers our teenagers at risk to use the decision making process and gain self confidence.  The programm provides clients with a sense of control over future health and the health of their unborn child.  Smart $hop also makes the clients aware of workshop programs designed to help establish friendships, gain peer support and establish lifelines.  Smart $hop goes above and beyond the traditional classroom approach in basic life skill teaching.  The organization goes one step further in the traditional home visitation approach by providng hands-on shopping assistance and training.

Baby Find

The Baby Find Program is an organization of volunteer women dedicated to promoting early prenatal guidance, information and mother-to-mother support for first time mothers, teenage moms, and at-risk pregnant women in their community.  Through caring and sharing of information, the Baby Find Program promotes a community partnership for healthy babies and their families.
