Full Circle Midwifery Care 168 Kinsley Street, Nashua NH 03060 Awarded $5,000.00 to implement Public Health Service Guidelines to address smoking in patients at this health center.
Avis Goodwin Community Health Center 652 F Central Avenue Dover, NH 03820 Awarded $10,000 to implement Centering Pregnancy training for staff. Centering Pregnancy is a group prenatal care model which has demonstrated a reduction in preterm births and improved birth outcomes.
2007 NH Chapter Community Grants
Cheshire Medical Center in Keene Smoking Cessation and Tobacco Education This is the second year of funding for this project which has made significant strides in educating women about smoking cessation and the importance of maintaining smoke free homes. The grantee will also begin a train the trainer program whereby quit mothers and partners may conduct tobacco education and cessation training.
Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster Tobacco Cessation Program The Tobacco Action Committee will work collaboratively to set up infrastructure to ensure that the Public Health Service guidelines for tobacco cessation will be developed, implemented and monitored utilizing the 5 A’s approach.
NH Department of Health & Human Services Folic Acid Program This project targets Hispanic and minority women through the Minority Health Coalition, and other groups with disparities through Southern NH WIC Services and certain Family Planning Programs. The Folic Acid Program Coordinator will provide education and multivitamins utilizing March of Dimes folic acid and preconception health educational materials as well as portions of the Comenzando bien Prenatal Curriculum for Hispanic Women.
