Elizabethtown Gas Supports March of Dimes RIDE
14-Jun-05
New Jersey March of Dimes RIDE Ambassador Jessica Lattanzio, sits on Elizabethtown Gas Manager of Business Operations Mike Vogel’s motorcycle during a June 6 visit to Elizabethtown Gas in Union, NJ,  to talk about the company’s involvement in the upcoming June 26 March of Dimes RIDE for babies. Elizabethtown Gas is a sponsor of the event and Vogel, a RIDE committee member, and other employees will participate.

Pictured from left are Tim Williams, manager of Community Outreach for AGL Resources Mid-Atlantic Region, Lattanzio, Tom Kaufmann, manager of Rates and Tariffs for Elizabethtown Gas, Vogel, Valerie Blanchard, Executive Director of the North Jersey Division of the March of Dimes, and Eric Martinez, vice president and general manger of Elizabethtown Gas.

Lattanzio, 12, of Raritan, has been involved with the RIDE event since its inception in 1996. She was born three months premature, weighing only 2 pounds, 11 ounces and became known to doctors and nurses as the “Miracle Baby.” Thanks to surfactant therapy, which allowed her underdeveloped lungs to breathe, and specialized care in the neonatal intensive care unit - both supported by March of Dimes funding - seven weeks later, Lattanzio went home as a 4 pound 6 ounce bouncing baby girl. Thanks to March of Dimes research and advocacy efforts, Lattanzio is healthy and active today.
