| 2007 New Jersey Community Grants
Regional Perinatal Consortium of Monmouth and Ocean Counties - $49,941 “Bilingual Prenatal Prevention and Education” will increase availability, access to and quality of prevention and healthcare services for high risk pregnant women. The project will provide comprehensive urinary and reproductive tract infections prevention education as part of the basic prenatal education offered through Comenzando bien at the prenatal clinics and in the community.
Family Health Initiatives - $44,212 “Advanced Practice Nurses Preconceptional Education” will provide Advanced Practice Nurses with MOD modules and participate in a moderated group discussion on the topic of Preconceptional Counseling. Education will be made available through teleconference, several dinner meetings, and website.
Our Lady of Lourdes - $44,474 “Osborn Family Health Center Bi-Lingual Prenatal Education Program” is proposing to continue year two of its bilingual prenatal education program, which is supported by the use of incentives to ensure program compliance. Emphasis is placed on the prevention of illness and encouraging adequate prenatal care in an effort to correct a number of pre- and post-delivery health problems, including low birth weight, pregnancy complications, poor growth and development, and birth defects.
Women’s Care Center - $24,999 “Stork’s Club” project intent is to lower the incidence of preterm labor and delivery by increasing patient compliance with prenatal care. The project is an incentive based program that incorporates education regarding risk factors associated with preterm labor with the support and collaboration of Cooper University Hospital.
New Jersey Primary Care Association - $50,000 “Teen Pregnancy Project” will improve the disparity in birth outcomes of 500 pregnant African American and Hispanic teens receiving prenatal care at 6 community health centers located in underserved areas of Atlantic, Camden, Hudson, Middlesex and Union counties.
RENEWAL City of Trenton Department of Health & Human Services– 3rd year of 3 year grant $50,000 Outreach and public education to pregnant women and preconceptional women and their families. The project will work in partnership with public and private clinical providers, hospitals, consumers and community agencies to improve access to prenatal care and other maternal and child health services.
