It's Time for Fall WrapArounds
17-Aug-05
WrapArounds are mini fund-raisers that can boost your WalkAmerica total.

Don't forget the old favorites

  • Bean Bags for Babies®
  • Pick-a-Pumpkin
  • Blue Jeans for Babies®
  • Donate your old Cell Phones

Try some new ideas!

Dress Down with a Twist
Spice up Blue Jeans for Babies® day(s) by dressing down with a theme. Think Luau and ask everyone to go Hawaiian for babies! Be creative and pick any theme that you would like. Some additional ideas: Baseball theme, Beach theme, Country Western theme, Seventies theme or Pink & Blue theme (dress in March of Dimes' favorite colors). Call your local March of Dimes office to order buttons and T-shirts.

Balloons for Babies
Balloon bouquets can really brighten someone’s day.  Purchase helium tanks from a local warehouse or party store and sell ‘balloon bouquets’ to your co-workers.  Sell the bouquets for $1.00 per balloon - the more balloons in the bouquet, the more money raised for the March of Dimes!
Or
Blow up as many balloons as you’d like, number slips of paper and place each piece of paper inside a balloon.  Sell the balloons for $5.00 each.  While selling the balloons, display several prizes that randomly correspond to some of the numbers in the balloons.  On a designated day, have everyone come to a common area to “pop” their balloons. The person with the matching number wins the prize!

Play-a-Thon
The March of Dimes has teamed up with Hasbro Toys to help you hold your own playathon with a variety of different board games played in 15 minute segments. Participants get sponsors for every segment played or flat sponsor donations. Great for teens and college students! For information, call Meredith Gordon at 973-882-0700 x 36 or email her at mgordon@marchofdimes.com

Lemonade Stand (with Pot Luck lunch)
Relive those wonderful childhood memories of selling lemonade!  Sell lunch tickets for $5.00 or more; bring lemonade and have your co-workers bring pot luck lunch items.  This is a great way to get everyone together for a fun lunch and help save babies at the same time!

Ice Cream Sundae Party
I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream!  Everyone loves this cool treat on a hot, summer day!  Bring in several flavors of ice cream and all the toppings for a “make your own” sundae social.  Charge $3.00, or more, per person.  Don’t forget the frozen yogurt for those who prefer a lower cal treat!

Create Your Own
Feel free to create your own original event! Share your ideas with March of Dimes staff.

WrapArounds for Individuals

Everyone has the ability to do a successful WrapAround – even individual walkers and small businesses.  Here are some ideas.

  • Bake Cookies and sell them to your coworkers or fellow students.
  • Decorate a coffee can with pictures of babies in your life. Put it on your desk to collect spare change from co-workers.
  • Place a candy dish of Life Savers candies on your desk. Add a sign that asks for a donation to the March of Dimes, and also thanks supporters for being a "life saver for babies!"
  • Sell your crafts at a fair or at work.
  • Sell March of Dimes Ribbon Car Magnets or handmade March of Dimes pins to friends and family. Call your local March of Dimes office for information.
  • Ask permission to collect donations in front of your local grocery store.

Donating is easy online, by phone or mail / fax.
