Todd Dezen, March of Dimes, 914-997-4608, tdezen@marchofdimes.com
WASHINGTON, D.C., FEB. 7, 2012 -- (Left to right) Gary Dixon of Dallas, TX, member of March of Dimes national Board of Trustees, was joined today by March of Dimes 2012 National Ambassador family Shalini, Shane and 6-year-old Kieran Wittstruck of Seattle, WA, and 2011 National Ambassador family Nikki, Densel (holding son Corbin), 8-year-old Ambassador Lauren, and little sister Erin of Charlotte, North Carolina, prior to a private meeting with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office of the White House. These national volunteers represented the March of Dimes and the 500,000 babies born prematurely each year. This visit continues the March of Dimes 66-year tradition of National Ambassador visits to the White House. March of Dimes National Ambassadors have met with every U.S. President since President Harry S. Truman.
The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide and its premier event, March for Babies, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The walk starts here at marchforbabies.org. For the latest resources and information, visit marchofdimes.com or nacersano.org. Find us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
