March of Dimes Raises Over $1 Million At Celebration of Babies Luncheon

LOS ANGELES, DEC. 7, 2012 – New moms Reece Witherspoon (left) and Elizabeth Banks walked the white carpet at March of Dimes 7th annual March of Dimes Celebration of Babies, a Hollywood luncheon, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel here. Ms. Witherspoon, an actor and producer, received the 2012 March of Dimes Grace Kelly Award, which recognizes role-model celebrity parents. Celebration of Babies brought together and recognized many other celebrities and prominent individuals in the entertainment community who are pregnant or celebrating the recent birth of a child and raised over $1 million to fund the March of Dimes mission to improve the health of babies and help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. The event was hosted by entertainer Nick Cannon. Other celebrities who attended the event included Tom Hanks, Mike O’Malley, Robert Downey Jr, Molly Sims, Hillary Duff, Allyson Hannigan, and Amanda Peet.

The event, chaired by Jimmy and Joi Horowitz, raised more than $1 million for the March of Dimes mission to improve the health of babies. Ms. Witherspoon, an actor and producer, received the 2012 March of Dimes Grace Kelly Award, which recognizes role-model celebrity parents. Ms. Zarghami was named March of Dimes’ Inspiring Woman of the Year for her accomplishments as a leader in the entertainment industry and as a dedicated mother to her three sons, Liam, Wyatt and Ethan. Dr. Oshiro, Vice-Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Medical Director of the Perinatal Institute at Loma Linda University Medical Center, received the 2012 Elaine Whitelaw Volunteer Service Award for his groundbreaking advancements in establishing better health guidelines for hospitals and obstetricians around the country.

LOS ANGELES, CA December 7, 2012 – This afternoon, March of Dimes, the leading non-profit organization for pregnancy and baby health, celebrated their 2012 honorees at the 7th annual March of Dimes Celebration of Babies, a Hollywood luncheon, at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. Over $1 million was raised.

March of Dimes Celebration of Babies brought together and recognized celebrities and prominent individuals in the entertainment community who are pregnant or celebrating the recent birth of a child, and who are role models for the March of Dimes mission to improve the health of babies by helping moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies.

Actor and producer Reese Witherspoon received the 2012 March of Dimes Grace Kelly Award, which recognizes role-model celebrity parents. Cyma Zarghami, President of Nickelodeon Group, was named March of Dimes’ Inspiring Woman of the Year for her accomplishments as a leader in the entertainment industry and as a dedicated mother to her three sons, Liam, Wyatt and Ethan. Medical doctor Bryan Oshiro received the 2012 Elaine Whitelaw Volunteer Service Award.
