New York State Perinatal Association Conference
11-Jun-09
On June 11, Scott Berns, MD, March of Dimes Senior Vice President for Chapter Programs was the keynote speaker at the New York State Perinatal Association Conference, which was sponsored by the New York State Chapter.

Held in Albany, the theme of the conference was Perinatal Safety: Practice and Research and the title of Dr. Berns's presentation was, Late Preterm Birth Quality Improvement. Dr. Berns set the record straight for New York’s leaders on where both the state and the nation stand with late preterm birth and c-sections. Not only did he present his overview with data, but he offered guidance, reminded the audience of ACOG’s recommendation regarding c-sections, cited the nearly $10,000,000 invested in research and program grants in New York State and announced the Foundation’s upcoming forums on perinatal issues.

Dr. Berns set the tone for the two-day conference by instilling the audience with enthusiasm and motivation around the issue of perinatal safety. He was followed by a representative from the New York State Department of Health.
