Mission Ambssador Story: Aidan's Story

Aidan Christopher was born by emergency c-section on August 24, 2003, weighing 1lb 8oz and measuring 12 inches long. He was 16 weeks premature and went immediately to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where he was placed on a ventilator and under bilirubin lights. He spent 117 days in the NICU.
After his release, Aidan was in and out of the hospital several times with episodes ranging from apnea and a bad cold, to a rapid growth of his cranium. At the age of two, Aidan was hospitalized again with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), a dangerous condition common to children born premature.
Thanks to a great team of doctors, nurses and therapists - and many prayers - Aidan is now a sweet, funny, happy and healthy five year old. He weighs slightly over 35 pounds and has grown to over three feet tall. Aidan survived an ordeal that most adults cannot imagine facing, and is a strong little boy who continues to overcome obstacles from his early birth. Aidan and his parents, Jennifer and Christopher, live in Manhattan, where Aidan attends the IDEAL school.
