2010 Advocacy Day went very well! The March of Dimes North Carolina Chapter thanks the 35 volunteers and staff members who participated on June 9th! Nearly all of the 170 legislative offices were visited. It was a busy day at the General Assembly, but the March of Dimes contingent had productive meetings with many members. When the members were not available, we met with their legislative assistants. Thank you to all who made the trip to downtown Raleigh and advocated for infant mortality prevention funds and against the bill requesting 2% for oversight of state grants. The response was very favorable on both issues.
Our legislators were open and responsive to infant mortality prevention. These individual visits that we make each year really make a difference. Thank you for your efforts!
Thanks to lobbyist, Paula Wolf, for her wonderful work every day and for her support of Advocacy Day. Also, thanks to our partners, NC Perinatal Association, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. And a very special thanks to the Alphas for donating the ice cream which was extremely popular. We served 384 slices of pie.
The news release on Advocacy Day is posted on Carolina Newswire. Thank you for your enthusiastic support. We will keep you posted as the budget is negotiated.
