The “Celebrating Contributions to Charlotte” award was established in 2005 by the Greater Piedmont Division of the March of Dimes to honor a member of the business community who has demonstrated a long history of service and has contributed greatly to the City of Charlotte. Recipients are chosen for their outstanding leadership and vision in the community. This year’s honoree is Mr. Jerry Orr, Aviation Director of the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
As Aviation Director of Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Orr is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Airport. With an annual economic impact of $10 billion, the Airport has become recognized as the area’s number one economic development tool. For the past 34 years, Orr has passionately been implementing his vision and developing the Airport into one of the nation’s premier transportation facilities. His personal investment and commitment to success has created a significant impact on our entire community.
