Chili Cook's Information and Registration
Important Event Details

Space:  Each cooking space is 15’ x 15’.  If you rented a tent, the tent and two tables will be set up on your site before the event.  (If you rented any additional tables, they will be there as well.)  If you are bringing your own tent, you must provide your own tables unless indicated on the registration form.

Check-in & Packet Pickup:  Friday, September 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or Saturday, Sept. 20, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.  All teams are required to check-in.  In your Cooks’ Packet you’ll receive parking passes, Cooks’ Party passes and a goodie bag including an event T-shirt.  If you drive your vehicle into the event area to unload during check-in on Friday, please do NOT move your car between 6:30 and 10:00 p.m. on Friday night to ensure the safety of people attending the Cooks’ Party.  The Fire Marshall will be on-site on Friday and requires that NO cars be parked underneath any tent.  Parking to the side is permitted, but there must be adequate room for cars to pass easily.

Team Parking & Admission:  Up to six members of your chili team will be admitted free before 10:30 a.m. on Saturday if they are wearing the armbands that are given to each team at Check-in.  Passes for additional members of your cook team may be purchased at Check-in on Friday or Saturday morning for regular admission price.  Parking passes will be available in your Cooks’ Packet.

Space Set-up and Break-down:  Please have your space completely set-up by 11 a.m. on Saturday when the gates open to the public.  The event concludes at 6 p.m., and teams are asked to not begin dismantling your space until then.  Cars will not be allowed onsite until the event is over and Security has opened the gates.

What to Bring:  Bring anything you think is essential for cooking such as extra tables (2 provided per tent rented), chairs, pots, stoves, cooking utensils, food supplies, etc.   Electricity is not available in the tents and electrical hook-ups are banned.  Also, you’ll need to bring water for cooking since the only water onsite is not safe for human consumption, only for cleaning up at the end of the day.

Overnight Accommodations:  You may camp at your site.  Just remember that no ground fires will be permitted.  We also recommend The Village Inn in Clemmons (336.766.9121).

Appropriate Behavior:  Please remember this is a family event and you should conduct yourself accordingly.  Lewd behavior, nudity, excessive drunkenness, illegal acts, or other inappropriate behavior or decorations will result in disqualification and expulsion of the individual(s) or team(s) responsible.

Rain Date:  The event goes on rain or shine.  If it is raining when judging is complete, the winners may be announced under the big tent.

Refunds:  Sorry… there will be no refunds, but if you have to cancel we hope you’ll feel good about making a donation to the March of Dimes to help support healthier babies!

Penalties:  Any team that fails to comply with cooking or showmanship rules is subject to disqualification of the individual or team from the event.  Decisions of the officials are final.
What is NOT Allowed:
  Pets
  Smoking under tents
Parking vehicles under tents   Ground fires
