Sep 20, 2008 March of Dimes North Carolina Chili Championship The March of Dimes North Carolina Chili Championship is one HOT event! Now in its 26th year, more than 100 chili cooks from across the country gather in Piedmont Triad to compete and share of their top secret recipes with 10,000 hungry attendees. Sep 20, 2008 Rubber Duck Regatta This year's virtual rubber duck regatta will take place in conjunction with the NC Chili Championship on Saturday September 20, 2008. We have an awesome virtual rubber duck regatta planned this year with great prizes! Sep 20, 2008 Triad Bikers for Babies Raise money, then get on your bike and enjoy a great hour long ride, mapped out especially for you! Feel the power of riding, knowing that you are helping to give all babies a healthy start. March for Babies rain or shine! March for Babies takes place rain or shine. March of Dimes Awards New Grants to Duke Researchers Jane Massey, Executive Vice President of the March of Dimes, traveled to Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC to congratulate two Basil O-Connor award winners in the Dept. of Cell Biology. 2008 North Carolina Chapter community grant and awards recipients The North Carolina Chapter community grants program is designed to invest in priority projects that further the March of Dimes mission, support national campaign objectives, and further our strategic goal of reducing disparities in birth outcomes. North Carolina Folic Acid Campaign wins National Birth Defects Education and Prevention Award The North Carolina Folic Acid Campaign was honored with an award at the National Birth Defects Prevention Network Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. on February 13. The Latino Education Campaign won the 2007 Birth Defects Education and Prevention Award. Serious birth defects are declining in North Carolina Over the past ten years there has been a significant decline in the rate of spina bifida in North Carolina. Babies have a healthier start in life thanks to efforts led by the NC Folic Acid Council and the March of Dimes.
