About us
Dr. Margaret C. Freda
"Saving Babies, Together®" Award
The March of Dimes Dr. Margaret Comerford Freda "Saving Babies, Together Award" is named in honor of an extraordinary individual who has devoted her life to saving babies through successful collaborations, working together with her own patients and with fellow clinicians, educators, researchers and, fortunately for us, with the March of Dimes. A long-time volunteer and advisor, Dr. Freda's contributions to the Foundation are innumerable. She began her volunteer service with the March of Dimes in the early 1980s, serving as a volunteer for the New York City Chapter. Dr. Freda later became the first chair of the March of Dimes Nurse Advisory Council which, because of her vision and leadership, is now comprised of the most preeminent perinatal nursing leaders in the country. Dr. Freda also served as the senior editor for March of Dimes nursing modules, a trusted source of high-quality, continuing nursing education.
Dr. Freda's passion for excellence and commitment to nursing research are unparalleled. It is her compassion, though, that elevates Dr. Freda to the status of cherished volunteer. Her efforts always have been driven by her sincere desire to improve the care of mothers and babies. And for that we are forever grateful.
