Life is truly a wonderful gift. Every day is full of promise and potential, which are joyfully achieved by people of all of backgrounds and levels of ability all over the world. The March of Dimes works to ensure that babies receive every opportunity to lead rich, happy and healthy lives. In some instances, the work the March of Dimes funds can mean an improvement in a child’s quality of life. In other instances, it can literally mean the difference between life and death. Supporting the life-affirming work of the March of Dimes is what brought me on board.

Since its beginning, the March of Dimes has depended on the generosity of people like you to carry out its mission of saving babies. Volunteers are the driving force behind the foundation, giving gererously of their time and talent to serve in a variety of ways.

Here are just a few ways you can get involved:

NICU Families Needed to Provide Guidance for our NICU Family Support Project

NICU Family Support Project: Seeking volunteers in the Cleveland/Akron area to assist with our NICU Family Support Program at Akron Children's Hospital.  Volunteer opportunities include assembling support materials for NICU families, helping coordinate sibling and parent activities, increasing awareness, gathering donations, etc.  Families who have themselves had a child in the NICU are especially needed to lend their expertise in guiding our program to be most effective for the families we work to support during this difficult time.  For more information, contact Kristie Stefan, NICU Family Specialist at kstefan@marchofdimes.com or 330-543-DIME or 216-643-3330. 

Volunteers are the driving force behind the foundation, giving generously of their time and talent to serve in a variety of ways.  Currently we also need the following volunteers:

Communications:  Seeking communications professionals from the Cincinnati area to help with marketing communications/public relations planning, graphic design and layout, writing, editing and proofreading, and media planning.   Assist with projects to build awareness of the March of Dimes mission and materials to support fundraising events.   Some on-site meetings may be required, but work may be completed outside of the March of Dimes office.  Please reply by email: OH643@marchofdimes.com

Program Services:  Seeking professionals state-wide to serve on our Program Services Committees.   Individuals with maternal child health, public health, rural health, social work, and/or grant writing experience needed to assist with advancing March of Dimes mission in South Carolina.  Activities include grant reviews, outreach and awareness activities, healthcare education efforts, and more.   If interested, contact Becky Johnson-Rescola at 216-643-3330 or 800-686-2323 or by email: bjohnson-rescola@marchofdimes.com

March for Babies 2010 Planning Committees: Volunteers are needed in communities across the state to sell sponsorship opportunities, recruit volunteers and new teams, and to plan and implement kick off, rally and walk day activities.

Special Event Volunteers in Ohio:  There are many opportunities available for involvement with the Signature Chefs Auctions, the Bikers for Babies and other events.  Join one of the planning committees or help the day of the event.

Several clubs and organizations partner with the March of Dimes to help further our mission. These groups participate in fundraising events and program activities that reach out to the community.
