2007 Ride for Babies Labeled a Huge Success… $55,000 Raised to Fight Premature Birth
Cincinnati, OH – September 2007 – Sporting an array of helmets and chaps, more than 350 motorcyclists gathered in Northern Kentucky on September 15th for the March of Dime’s Annual “Ride for Babies”. Bikers from Dayton, Greater Cincinnati, and as far away as Louisville rode in the 40 mile ride which ended with 3 victory laps around the track at the Kentucky Speedway! The thousands of dollars raised in this year’s event go towards much needed research into the causes of premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.
Corporate Chairman, Fred Kohnke, President and CEO of CBS Personnel led the March of Dimes Ride for Babies to record success. Fred is an avid motorcycle enthusiast who used his hobby to help give every baby a healthy start. “We are very excited to announce that over $55,000 was raised for the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Division.” Many thanks go to Fred Kohnke for his great leadership and enthusiasm for this event. As always, the ride would not have been possible without the wonderful support from riders, sponsors and the community.
As riders gathered at Meijer, they heard first hand about the families their participation is helping. Sara and Scott Schreckenhofer know all too well the difficulties of prematurity as their daughter, Ally Grace, spent time in the NICU after delivery. Ally Grace, born 16 weeks early, weighing 1lb 10 ounces battled prematurity. Today, Ally Grace lives with vision challenges in her left eye related to her premature birth. Sara, Scott and Ally Grace are proud to be the 2007 Ride for Babies Ambassador Family, serving as a reminder of the importance of the mission of the March of Dimes.
