When you participate in the Cleveland March for Babies, you give hope to the more than half a million babies born too soon each year. The money you raise supports programs in our community that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. March for Babies funds research to find answers to the problems that threaten our babies.
Mr. Frank Higgins, President & CEO, Nestle Prepared Foods Company
With both pregnancies, Nicole experienced preterm labor. She referred to the March of Dimes web site and was able to recognize the signs and symptoms of preterm labor. She contacted her physician and immediately began treatment. She was hospitalized, placed on bed rest, and given various medications to slow contractions including corticosteroids to help develop the babies’ lungs.
At Hillcrest Hospital, doctors were able to slow the contractions again with corticosteroids. Nicole and Grant Relic are forever grateful that both babies were born just 4 weeks early. Brooks Cole was born February 23, 2007 weighing 5 lbs. 11 oz. Callyn Catherine was born October 2, 2011 weighing 6 lbs, 14 oz. They are happy, healthy and full of energy. With continued efforts from The March of Dimes and their commitment to prematurity research, the Relic Family hopes that all babies will be born healthy.
