Our thoughts and sympathies are with everyone in our state after the horrifying tornado. Our hearts go out to all the families and communities affected by this disaster. If you’re pregnant please remember that you have unique needs following a disaster. If you are experiencing any medical effects from the disaster please contact your health care provider or go to the nearest hospital. If you're in a shelter, immediately go to the person in charge of your site. Tell him or her you need medical care right away.
If your pregnancy is healthy you'll want to take steps to ensure you stay healthy. Try to maintain a healthy diet and drink plenty of safe drinking water. Watch for signs of labor as stress can be a risk factor. Some signs of labor include: contractions; low, dull backache; and cramping.
