Signature Chefs Auction Raises Almost $50,000 In the Fight to Save Babies
06-Nov-06
(TITUSVILLE, PA: November 6, 2006)—The March of Dimes and proud partners presented the 2006 Venango Signature Chefs Auction at Cross Creek Resort on November 6, which raised over $49,500 to help win the fight against birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.  The evening opened with cocktails and was followed by a Silent Auction and Grand Buffet Tasting, before the commencement of the program and Live Auction.  With a full house, the event welcomed over 250 guests—both local residents and out-of-town visitors, from as far as Rhode Island!

Good conversation and friendly laughter echoed from the banquet room as guests mingled, during the opening portion of the event, while Silent Auction packages were all beautifully displayed, and colleagues tried to one-up each other for the winning bids.  Sweet aromas lofted through Cross Creek, as the area’s finest chefs, confectioners, and chocolatiers displayed their signature dishes—from hearty main course samples to rich and luxurious desserts.  The culinary excellence of the following establishments was featured: Bella Cucina, Cross Creek Resort, Cindy’s Let Them Eat Cake, Deck the Halls, Tastefully Simple, Tavern on the Park, The Mill Restaurant, Uzi’s Pastries, and Venango Technology Center.  The Auctioneer, Bill Bellis, from Baker Auction Company, kept the crowd energized during the Live Auction, as several packages—all donated by local companies and individuals—were auctioned off to raise more money for the voluntary health agency.

The March of Dimes appreciates the support of the community, including the following generous sponsors: Cross Creek Resort, Henry & Bev Suhr, Dr. Robert M. Woods, D.O., Anderson Physical Therapy, Michael F. & Joyce I. Hughes, Oil Valley Physical Therapy, Stubler Beverage, Dr. Bill Fritz, M.D., Middleton Chiropractic, National City, Oil Creek Plastics, UPMC Northwest, Electralloy, Joy Mining, Marilyn Neely, Morrison Funeral Home, Oak St. Pediatrics, Precision Transport, Ribbon  Factory Outlet, Rosen, Rosen, Bloom, & Varsek, Salvage Direct, and Titusville Hospital.

Event Chair, Amy Woods, was a wonderful hostess for the evening, and she was joined by several fellow committee members: Keri Downing-Carl, Paula Kerr, Molly Kirvan, Donna McAllister, Heidi Marvin, Danielle Mottillo, Kathleen Morrison, Amy Phyllis, Michelle Schull, and Susan Trout.

“It’s the time and dedication given by these volunteers who made this year’s Signature Chefs Auction such a success,” credits Laura King, March of Dimes Community Director.  “Actually every single person sitting in that banquet room made a difference in the lives of babies, and that is why this event is so rewarding.”
